Package Pricing for Balloon Decor: Good, Better, Best (With Examples)

RBy Ryan Register, founder of Popline··5 min read

To price balloon decor packages, build three tiers (good, better, best) from your real per-item costs, make the middle tier the one you most want to sell, and post a "starting at" price so clients know your range before they message you. In the example below, that's a $295 starter, a $595 signature setup, and a $995 showstopper, with delivery and add-ons priced separately.

Here's how to build each tier, price bundles honestly, set a starting price and minimum, and present packages so clients pick one instead of asking "what would you charge for this?"

Why packages beat custom quotes for most inquiries

Custom quotes are slow. Every inspo pic means questions, math, and a quote that might get ghosted.

Packages fix three things at once:

  • Speed. You answer "how much?" in one message.
  • Choice. Clients pick a tier instead of deciding yes or no on a single number.
  • Profit. Packages are built from your formula once, so every booking is priced right.

You can still do custom work. Packages just handle the requests that look alike (birthday garlands, shower backdrops), so your custom-quote time goes to the jobs that really need it.

How to build a package from your costs

Every tier is built the same way, using the formula from how to price balloon decor:

  1. List what's included, item by item.
  2. Price each item from your materials and hours.
  3. Add the job costs once: one consult, one trip, one overhead share.
  4. Divide by (1 − margin) and round to a clean number.
  5. Keep delivery separate unless you serve a small area.

The examples below use $0.30 per balloon, $30 an hour, $31 overhead per job, and a 25% margin.

Example: good, better, best

Good: "Simple & Sweet," $295

  • 8-foot organic garland, installed on an existing wall or table
  • Up to 3 colors
  • 1-hour setup window

Math, using a base-fee-plus-per-foot system ($80 base + $26 per foot): $80 + (8 × $26) = $288, rounded to $295.

Better: "Signature," $595

  • Garland and backdrop setup
  • Custom sign
  • Up to 4 colors, including 1 chrome or specialty accent

Here's how the numbers look on a quote. This is the demo booking we use inside Popline (an example, not a market price): $550 setup + $45 custom sign = $595, plus $54 delivery, for a $649 total and a 50% retainer of $324.50 to hold the date.

Best: "Showstopper," $995

  • Full 8 × 8 organic arch ($650 on its own)
  • Pair of 6-foot columns ($85 each as add-ons, $170)
  • Custom sign ($45)
  • 10 table centerpieces (about $13 each as add-ons, $130)

À la carte that's $995. You could round it down to $975 as a package price, and it's still fair to you: the columns and centerpieces ride along on the arch's trip, consult, and overhead, so they don't need those costs priced in twice. (Per-piece math for columns and centerpieces is in column, wall, and centerpiece pricing.)

The three side by side

Simple & Sweet Signature Showstopper
Price $295 $595 $995
Garland or arch 8-ft garland Garland + backdrop Full arch
Sign No Yes Yes
Columns No No Pair
Centerpieces No No 10
Colors Up to 3 Up to 4 + accent Custom
Delivery Quoted by distance Quoted by distance Quoted by distance

Design the middle tier as the obvious best value: noticeably more than the starter, without the price of the top tier. The top tier makes the middle one look reasonable, and some clients will happily take it.

Build an add-on menu

Add-ons let clients customize without turning the package into a custom quote. Price each one from your per-piece costs, with no extra job costs, since the trip is already paid for.

Add-on Example price
Extra foot of garland $26
Balloon column $85 each
Centerpiece $13 each
Custom sign $45
Foil numbers or letters priced by size
Chrome or specialty upgrade add a set % to the garland price
Teardown priced by distance and time
Rush (under 7 days) % of order (see rush and setup fees)

Set a starting price and a minimum

Your packages give you something most decorators don't have: a starting price.

In our November 2026 audit of 421 US balloon businesses, only 1% showed any starting price or minimum in their Instagram bio (State of the Balloon Business 2026). One line like "Installs from $295" quietly filters out tire kickers and makes you look established. More on that in why so few decorators show prices.

Your lowest package also becomes your natural minimum. Premium decorators in the group posts we analyzed run $500 minimums; yours could be $150 for grab n go and $295 for installs. Decide it, write it down, and use it. Details in how to set a minimum order.

How to present packages in the DMs

When someone sends an inspo pic and "how much?", reply with the tiers, not a custom quote:

Hi! Here are my most popular setups: Simple & Sweet: 8-ft garland, $295 Signature: garland, backdrop and custom sign, $595 Showstopper: full arch, columns, sign and centerpieces, $995 Delivery is quoted by distance. Your inspo pic is closest to Signature. Want me to check your date?

Pointing to the closest tier does two things: it shows you looked at their photo, and it gives them an easy yes.

If they want something between tiers:

I can do Signature with 2 columns added for $765. Want me to put that in a quote?

What every package description should say

  • What's included, item by item, with sizes
  • How many colors and whether specialty balloons cost extra
  • Indoor or outdoor (or an outdoor adjustment)
  • Setup window and whether teardown is included
  • That delivery is quoted separately (or the delivery zones)
  • Retainer amount to hold the date
  • Which add-ons are available

Put it all on one page; our price sheet template has a layout.

Frequently asked questions

How do you price balloon decor packages?

Price each item in the package from your materials and hours, add the job's fixed costs (consult, trip, overhead) once, then divide by one minus your margin. Round to a clean number and keep delivery separate. Building packages this way means every booking is priced right without re-doing math.

How many balloon packages should I offer?

Three is a good number: a starter, a middle tier you most want to sell, and a premium option. Fewer gives clients no choice; more makes them hesitate. Pair them with a short add-on menu for customization.

Should balloon packages include delivery?

Usually not, because delivery cost changes with distance. Show "delivery quoted by distance" or list your delivery zones. If you only serve a small area, you can build a standard delivery charge into each package.

Should I put my package prices on Instagram?

Showing at least a starting price helps clients self-qualify and makes you look established. In our November 2026 audit of 421 US balloon businesses, only 1% showed any starting price or minimum in their bio. You can list full packages on your booking page and link it in your bio.
